french forest

Madewell jeans, Elle top, jacket c/o APART style, feather moccasins c/o Minnetonka Moccasin

I still love this sweet little trail near my house in Washington each time I visit. It's lined with blackberry bushes, which happened to have perfectly ripe fruit during my time at home last week. Blackberries and cream, blackberry cobbler, blackberries straight out of the fridge...best vacation food. I love them almost as much as I love my new striped peplum top! I have been searching for a Parisian piece like this forever, and was surprised to find it while browsing the local Kohl's with my mom and sisters for twenty dollars. Perfect.

Love these feather moccasins as much as I do? We can be shoe twins!

trends for today

As we enter one of my favorite times of the year (transitioning from summer to fall), I've started paying more attention to detail in an outfit than usual. It's my favorite time of year for fashion because I get to mash trends from opposing seasons; i.e. searing-hot summer and colorful, brisk autumn.

AllSaints denim, Topshop blazer, J.Crew blouse, Alexander McQueen handbag, MIA cap-toe flats, Dorothy Perkins bracelet, Liz Palacios ring

Summery polka-dots and a light peach blazer keep this look August-appropriate, while incorporating some of my favorite trends for fall. I basically died over this Alexander McQueen chianti beauty as soon as I saw it. Definitely The Bag of all fall bags. I'm already addicted to fall's staple oxblood color.

Another trend I've been drawn to is baroque-inspired pieces. I find it so interesting to see how current events in the Baroque era translated into the extravagant jewelry design--scientific discoveries in astronomy and anatomy inspired symmetrical, infinite designs that surround theatrical jewels and gemstones. Love the pieces I incorporated into the outfit above!

Metallics are my other favorite. With so much wool, cashmere, and thick knit textures during fall, it's fun to spice up a look with a flash of metal here and there. The bronze-y silver cap toe on the MIA flats is just so good.

Loving these fall trends as much as I am?

This month, I got to be a featured blogger for Minnetonka Moccasin. This is the third and final look I styled for the feature, but don't you worry: my new Minnetonkas will be in heavy rotation with my other shoes heading into fall. They add the perfect rustic touch to a workweek look.

gingham and a giveaway

H&M blazer, J.Crew button-up, shorts c/o Kensie, vintage Coach bag, moccasins c/o Minnetonka Moccasin

This outfit was inspired by a menswear look at Macy's Glamorama 2012. I can't believe I didn't come up with wearing gingham under a blazer on my own...and I'm so excited to layer up this look with long pants and a scarf for fall. It's arriving quickly, and I can't wait.

Want to have your own feather moccasins to style? This is happening today...!

rustic in the city

Vince Camuto top, F21 blazer and necklace, J.Crew pixie pants, boots c/o Minnetonka Moccasin

So excited to share what I've been working on lately! Minnetonka Moccasin is featuring Zipped on their blog this month. I was so fortunate to style three different looks around three of their designs, the first of which is right here in this post, featuring the 3-layer fringe boot. Click on over to the Minnetonka Moccasin blog to see the rest and even learn a few facts about me.

alley cat

F21 top, J.Crew Pixie pants, necklace from Macy's, SAS handbag, Target 'Ona' flats

Finally found an alleyway to shoot in (lifelong blog dream of mine) but after almost getting run over by a laundromat van trying to park, the dream has faded and I can now move forward with my life.

I feel so lucky to have a few days here at home in Seattle to attend a wedding and spend some time with my family. I've only turned my phone on a couple of times and am thoroughly enjoying every one of my mom's home-cooked meals. The rest of my free time has been spent flipping through September issues of Vogue and Glamour with endless coffee, which is definitely my kind of relaxing.

day at the office

H&M blazer, Urban Outfitters tank, Madewell jeans, Shoemint flats, Warby Parker eyeglasses

I love the dress code at my office. It's rather vague, and you can find always find myriad interpretations between employees on any given day. I see guys in jeans and polos and men in three-piece suits. Some days I'll see girls in maxis and flip-flops, or a pencil skirt and heels. I typically fit somewhere between the bunch, going for jeans with blazers or denim tops with skirts--and always a very chic pair of flats.

crystallized

We all love a good arm party.

The key partygoer this summer has definitely been the friendship bracelet--it adds such eye-catching flair to a look. A single one makes a colorful statement while stacking a bunch just screams fun. I have been rocking mine from Marcella Leone since the day I got it.

And guess what--we can be twiiiinnsss!

Marcella Leone is generously giving this crystallized friendship bracelet away to a reader of Zipped. Just leave a comment below to enter. Doesn't matter where you live, I will ship anywhere!

minted

I don't know why it took me so long to order my first pair of shoes from Shoemint, the dazzling brain child of Rachel Bilson and Nicole Chavez. After snagging a deal in their summer sale, I started browsing the fall collection; I didn't even know I needed brown leather ankle boots until I saw these bad boys.
Shoemint

Plus, there are so many Mint sites--Jewelmint, Beautymint, Stylemint, etc.--that it's easy to build a complete fall look almost exclusively from these lines.

Stylemint tee, Shoemint boots, Jewelmint ring and cuff, Belstaff suede legging, YSL Muse Two bag

And the best part? The Mint family sites are so crazy affordable that they leave plenty of room in the budget for $3,000 pants and a YSL handbag in the perfect shade of deep navy for fall.

citron splash

F21 blazer, H&M tank + hair tie, J.Crew Pixie pants, Urban Outfitters loafers, Cut 'n' Paste bag, crystal friendship bracelet c/o Marcella Leone

This lemony-chartreuse blazer has become one of my favorite pieces to mix and match. In the words of my very stylish coworker Seth, I always love a good citron. It's bold + graphic with black and white, but blends easily when paired with a lighter tone-on-tone blouse. I kept the rest of my look easy and straightforward with striking metal accents, i.e. insane spiked necklace and metal hair cuff.

P.S. Keep an eye out next week, giving away one of these lovely friendship bracelets to a lucky reader!

delicate balance

Even though I just posted about statement necklaces...my new favorite look is a much more delicate statement made by simple jewels. I know; it's from one extreme to the next with this blogger.

Maya Brenner mini initial necklace, Dogeared sparkle bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs heart stud earrings, Gorjana stacked mixed-metal rings, Juicy Couture arrow bracelet

Because of the small scale of the jewelry, I like pairing these pieces with similar-sized prints and details to create a whole look. A few gold bangles and thin banded rings pair perfectly with a miniature floral print and simply-strapped sandals.

Topshop peplum top, DV by Dolce Vita sandals, J Brand jeans, Warby Parker Sinclair frames, J.Crew bangles, Gabriela Artiga knotted ring, Saskia Diez gold band

These pastel skinnies do a great job of getting my mind off of fall fashion. Still a good month of light and bright summer fashion to go!

switching seasons

Pinterest decided it for me this weekend--I am so excited for fall, thanks to these two looks.

I love the fur scarves, fun maroon leopard jeans, black boots and cozy knits. Even though I've been having a great time pairing bold brights this summer, I love piling funky faded and drab tones on top of each other to create cold-weather looks.

IRO jacket, Jerome Dreyfuss bag, Current Elliot jeans, Becksöndergaard scarf, Wallis bracelet, Essie 'Go Overboard' nail color

Of course, with a just-bright-enough nail color to keep it from being boring.

suit up

H&M blazer, Ann Taylor top, J.Crew pixie pants, TOMS shoes, Marc Ecko bag

Picture my afternoon. I get home from work and change into my house shoes (aka leopard TOMS) while I'm waiting for my photographer, and naturally I forget to slip back into my black velvet loafers before photos. Guhhh. Right? I know. I literally just forgot. Lucky for me, leopard print is a neutral so the situation isn't as bad as it could have been.

At least my Instagram followers caught a glimpse of the original look, viewable here. I promise, you guys. I know how to pick shoes for an outfit.

stunning statements

My latest obsession? All things big and baubly dangling from my neck--a piece commonly known as the statement necklace.

Statement necklaces come in many varieties, but one route you can go is with a bold and bright color. I love pairing these with chambray tops (something a girl can never have too many of).

But the other pairing I love is neutral metal over a bright solid, which is a look I have been gravitating towards in my work wardrobe. I've worked so hard at avoiding being "boring" when it comes to workwear that everything I buy is a loud, unforgettable, in-your face hue.

Sometimes, all an older blouse from the back of your closet needs is a new, shiny necklace on top to give it new life. In theory this saves money, but in reality...the necklaces that I find always tend to be pricier than your average blouse. Figures.
