mascara moment

As a girl with naturally long eyelashes, I probably shouldn't love mascara as much as I do. I rotate between a few favorites and sometimes layer more than one if my eyelashes aren't behaving the way I want them to.

I have two high-end formulas that I love, but I usually buy drugstore mascara. It has to be replaced so often that purchasing from designer brands gets expensive. I love Lancome's Definicils for long, defined lashes at night and Stila for a full, soft look during the day.

My favorite drugstore mascara is L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes; I love the shiny gold tube, collagen-infused formula and super-defined brush. Maybelline's Classic Volume Express and The Falsies mascaras both have dense brushes and dry formulas, which I like to layer between other mascaras.

As much as I love my current mascara wardrobe, I am always looking for new products to test. Share your favorites!

fringe folk

Kimchi Blue dress via Buffalo Exchange, Minnetonka Moccasin boots, bag c/o SAS Handbags, vintage watch and ring, Juicy Couture charm bracelet, Bauble Bar bead bracelet

The minute I read temperatures were going to reach 90 yesterday, I threw this little silk dress into my weekend bag. I also didn't pack any other shoes, as these boots have not left my feet since I laid eyes on them. They're just way too fun to leave in the closet for a day out.

I love a great long weekend. I stayed at my sister's apartment all weekend and spent Saturday morning at brunch with Cate, Jessi, Moriah, Lindsey, and Jen. French Meadow Bakery & Cafe in uptown Minneapolis was the perfect spot to meetup with these lovely ladies!

And then I took advantage of this Monday off by staying up way too late last night marathoning How I Met Your Mother. Maybe I'll at least be able to convince myself to get out of the house for BOGO day at the coffee shop down the street...have a great Memorial Day!

classic fun

Forever 21 tank and bracelet, Levis denim leggings, Cole Haan flats, Marc Ecko bag, vintage watch

Second photo: about to get run over by a semi. Yep.

I picked up these flats from a secondhand store for fourteen dollars and they're already my favorite. I love how they dress up a pair of jeans, so I went all out with a silky Peter Pan-collar top and simple jewelry. The polka-dots and high ponytail make it a little less dressy, which is perfect for wearing out around town.

I'm soooo excited to stay at my sister's place this weekend, and spend some time with other bloggers including one I've been wanting to meet foreverrrrr. It will be a blast.

Enjoy the long weekend!

a classic moment

You know how your style goes through mini phases? For example, last week I was into bohemian, bright orange fringe bags and this week I am all-J.Crew-all-the-time.
J.Crew

Stripes here, tailored pants there, perfectly layered double denim...is that too much to ask for a girl's wardrobe?

My picks: a perfect mix their quirky-classy pieces in all the greatest summer prints and colors. I know I say this about every season, but summer is the best time of the year!

P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my little sister and the best high school style blogger ever, ELYSE!

moving in

This past weekend was spent packing and moving and unpacking (still have lots of that to do), so I decided Monday would be a good time to give you all a sneak peek into my new space.

Slowly but surely getting the closet organized...

I spent practically all last night unpacking and am beginning to suffer from cabin fever. Time to go explore in the sunshine! Can't wait to finally feel at home after lots of hard work. Moving. Is. Exhausting.

hot and humid

Free People tank, Juicy Couture shorts, Kensie sandals, Lucky Brand bag, Maya Brenner necklace

After a late night last night, Katie (expert friend + expert photographer!) and I went to coffee late this morning and snapped these photos outside of Starbucks. By ten in the morning, it was already eighty degrees! This maaayyy be the hottest day I've experienced living here so far.

And yes, I've been warned that there are much warmer temperatures to come.

After coffeeing, we took a leisurely trip to a local consignment shop where I found theeeee best maroon patent Cole Haan flats for a steal. Can't wait to feature them!

Happpyyyyy weekend!

beach bum

So excited to head out to the beach with my bestie on this super warm day! The lakes in Minnesota are gorgeous and perfect for laying out all afternoon to celebrate the end of classes.

I've been having a printed swimsuit moment--bandeaus are by far favorite style!
 Topshop, Melissa Obadash, Topshop

I love putting together an entire look for a day at the beach, making a swimsuit part of your outfit. I just scored a Juicy Couture cover-up thrifting the other day, and can't wait to wear it out!

Topshop cover up, Ray-Ban aviators, Ralph Lauren tote, Nina Ricci swimsuit, DV by Dolce Vita sandals

I may have my look planned for today, but next beach day...I'm wearing this. Perfectly summery.

tank time

This whole week in Minneapolis, we're expecting crazy amounts of sun and finally some summer temperatures. Lucky for me, tank tops are a huge favorite of mine. Unfortunately for my wallet, I suddenly need many mooorrree...

Having a variety of similar silhouettes is literally how I build my closet. I am one of those girls with a daily uniform; jeans and a sweater in winter, shorts and a tank in summer.
Wallis Clothing tank, Adriano Goldschmied shorts, Belle Sigerson Morrison sandals, Target fringe bag, DANNIJO bangle, F21 bracelets

I love the look of pastel colors paired with bright accessories; plus, the textured bag and printed shorts just make this look next-level fun.

Off to enjoy the sunshine! Happy Monday.

spring stripes

Thrifted maxi and denim jacket, handbag c/o SAS, F21 and Maya Brenner jewelry

Yesterday was a non-stop rush of class, coffee dates, work, and a Twins game--the first half of the morning, I kept comfy in a crazy striped maxi dress that a friend decided reminded her of Morticia Addams (I can kinda see it...but not really...)

Since I'll be living in Minneapolis over the summer (!!!), my friends are already making plans and telling me all the fun things to do in the Twin Cities. The first one is an all-night drive-in movie theatre tonight, which pretty much guarantees I will be sleeping alllllll day tomorrow, only waking up in time for half-price frappuccinos at 3.

Yeah. This blogger definitely has her priorities in order.

into the sun

Sunglasses are one of my favorite accessories. I love feeling invincible behind a great pair of shades. With summer coming quickly and sunny spring days like this one, I came up with my top nine favorites styles!
1. Rebecca Minkoff 'Harrison' 2. Selima Sun for J.Crew 'Belle' 3. Kerin Rose 'Flower Frenzy'
4. Yves Saint Laurent 5. Rebecca Minkoff 'Chelsea' 6. Stella McCartney
7. 9five 'Blackout' 8. Delia's 9. Ray-Ban 'New Wayfarer'

Since everyone's been so obsessed with Karen Walker lately, I decided to throw her 'Perfect Day' sunnies into this mix. The look is definitely inspiring me for the upcoming beautiful weather this season.
Geren Ford dress, Karen Walker sunnies, Steve Madden sandals, See by Chloe crossbody, Kendra Scott ring

Simple summer wear with just enough accessories to call it bohemian. Maxi dresses are still my favorite.

summer staples: metallics

Marc Jacobs bow bracelet, Allsaints dress,  Zara shoes, Opening Ceremony earrings
ASOS satchel, Allsaints bracelet, Theyskens tank, TOMS shoes

Usually for summer, I have bright colors on my mind. This year, I love the idea of adding in shimmery metallic tones! Nothing better than catching a bit of sparkle in the summer sun.

With a bright skirt, neutral tank, and some gold jewelry, this look is my perfect for a weekend out and about in the sun.
Givenchy sandals, Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony top, Carven skirt, Chloe crossbody, ASOS bracelets, Reiss stackable rings

on the town

Derek Heart sweater, jacket c/o APART, Free People necklace and hat, Urban Outfitters loafers, bag c/o SAS, nails: Essie's Navigate Her

Last weekend was unbelievably cold and rainy--the complete opposite of these past few days (minus the odd thunderstorm). The day these were shot, my friend and I were headed to a little event at a downtown boutique, Behind the Scenes. I was completely uninspired and had no idea what to wear...but in the end, it was the perfect day to throw on my floppy hat to protect my hair from the weather.

And the perfect day for a soy vanilla latte. But really, what day isn't perfect for that...

pinterested

Only in this generation would the phrase "I've been pinning like a madwoman" make sense. There's almost too much inspiration on this site (let alone in the entire world) to absorb in one lifetime.

I have this obsession right now with striking faces and bright colors, mixed prints and playing with space. Also I continue to be obsessed with iced coffee, especially on a gorgeous sunny day like this one! I had a venti iced coffee from Starbucks almost every day I was in California, and now I have lovely memories every time I drink one.

Such as today!
