last post of '10!

Net-a-porter has ssooo many good flats right now in all neutral colors. All my favorites happen to be from increddibblleee designers. So classic!

Chloe scalloped, Lanvin camel, Alexandre Birman snake, Stella McCartney leopard

AAAAAAAAAAAAND! I'm going to be gone next week, so there are 3 unbelievably cool, talented, gorgeous, creative and supernice guest bloggers lined up to do a few posts while I'm away! They're kicking off 2011 for zipped (and debuting the three-posts-per-week format), so next week will be adventurous and exciting. Since I'll be available only through email, say hi so I don't miss everyone so much! I'm already excited to catch up on all your posts on the eighth.

Thanks for being sssooooo super supportive on my last post. Love you guys! And here is some sparkle (sequin skirt!) for NYE 2010.

Leave the guest bloggers some love on January 3, 5, and 7! Have an amazing New Year's, everyone. Cheers to '11.
P.S. There's a couple more days to enter the Five and Two jewelry giveaway!

ch-ch-ch-changes

Prepare to be bombarded with words. But they're important and have to do with you!

2011 is around the corner. I've been thinking about zipped and where it's going. Although I'm nineteen and supposedly mature, I devote a moderately crazy amount of time to zipped. Right now, I live for this blog, and I pretend like I don't have to go to work or do laundry or clean or practice time management at all. Life is such a learning process...

That said, I'm going to be posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It's a lot less, but I hope my life will become somewhat balanced again, if only allowing me more time to keep up with your blogs! I loooooooove blogging, and I'm excited to still be able to post regularly AND have lots of extra time to interact with you guys.

And I want to hear your opinion, so take a gander through past posts and tell me which ones you've enjoyed! Featured retailersmy personal outfitstrend moodboardsoutfit collages...I would so appreciate hearing about your favorites. And I know, yeah, it's my blog and I decide the content, but you guys read it and I like having you around.

Two more words for you: Burberry. Shoes.

I added in the hearts to communicate my feelings about what's happening here. There's just sooo much edge going on! Studs! Buckles! Black! Silver!

oh, the drama

Anyone else wish they had fancy black-tie affairs to attend once in awhile? Maybe a New Year's Eve gala?
Halston Heritage, Alexander McQueen, Alberta Feretti

Paired with something like this. I have been totally gown-obsessed for the past two days. I can't stop searching them out, and I almost want to run to the downtown Nordstrom and try on a bunch of black-tie dresses. For no reason at all. I almost want to find my perfect gown and buy it just in case.

I just realized how dangerous the phrase "just in case" is when I'm a self-proclaimed clothing collector with no sense of self-control. Scary thought. And of course, one would need a sleek ride...

Um, is this ssoooo luxe or what? Anyone have a good limo story? I've never been in one!

P.S. My little sister just did her final 30 for 30 outfit post! Leave her some love!

morning!

I'm llooovvinngg reading all of your Christmas recaps, so I thought I would share a little summary of my holiday. This Christmas was extra special to me for two reasons. First, while I was at my grandma's house on Christmas Eve, we squeezed my entire family into one big photo--so epic and it made my whole night.

Second, my aunts, uncles, and cousins banded together and bought my family a Wii, which meant so much to me because it's something we can all do together and would have never been able to get on our own. I don't know why I felt so extra sappy this year. I guess I'm just realizing how important my family is to me, especially because next year my sister will be off with another family (her future husband's side), and this year is like our last huzzah before a wedding changes everything.

Topshop cardigan, Rebecca Taylor silk dress, Geox ankle booties, Alexander Wang bucket bag, Diane Kordas rose gold cross ring, Isharya earrings, Burberry studded wrap bracelet

After I saw this cardigan,  I knewww it deserved a perfectly print-mixed outfit. I'm running errands this morning, and wish I was running them in this...

on the 3rd day of Christmas...

...Chelsea gave to me...

A chance to win a LANI bracelet!
The lovely Briana of five and two jewelry sent me this handmade bracelet to send to the giveaway winner! It's called the LANI bracelet and comes in all colors, but I thought black would be the perfect neutral color that you can wear with any outfit. I've had mine on every day since I received it. Also, just for being a reader of zipped, Briana is offering 15% off a purchase from her shop with the code ZIPPED! Don't forget to check out her Facebook page here.

Thanks sooo much for reading + following zipped; interacting with you guys has added so much to my life the past few months. Enjoy a few of my shots over the Christmas holiday, and good luck on the giveaway!

fireside comfort

Christmas Eve is such a magical day. My plans include doing anything I want, as long as I stick to two rules I've made for myself: anything I do must be Christmas-related and fun! What a challenge, right?
Free People sweater, Guess purple corduroy leggings, Marc Jacobs ankle boots + bangle, Lucky Brand feather ring, Chan Luu wrap bracelet, ASOS palm warmers

First, I'm going to pretend that I'm wearing this outfit while heading into the snow for a morning coffee date. I am ssooo overwhelmed with Christmas spirit :)

I hope everyone's holiday is better than they can imagine! Back on Monday. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Any Holiday You Celebrate!
"Everything looks so pret-ty!" Anyone else watch Arthur's Perfect Christmas every year?!

P.S. I just got an early Christmas present in the mailllllllll!
Happiness in the form of Dolce Vita boots. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO MEEEE! And to you amazing bloggers + readers. Mucho love.

streeted

It's My Darlin' is an amazing street style blog based here in Seattle. Its photographer + author is the aammaazziinngg Dana Landon whom I would love to meet someday! These are some of my favorite looks from the many months I've been following her. All of the following photos were taken and are owned by Dana, posted with permission!

Jan
I have been wanting a trench coat for months, and I lloovvee her classy, dark-colored look! The sandals are so unexpected, and her hat perfectly tops it all off.

Shannon
Shannon's bag is so unique! I love her flowy top and cardigan. And her hair makes me want to get bangs.

Josh & Colin
I love these guys' matching hats, long sleeves, and denim! Definitely a classic day-out-in-the-city look.

Arwen
I remember the day Dana posted this picture; I just about fell off my chair. Arwen is the perfect example of what I want to look like all summer. I am obsessed with her wedge sandals + straw bag, and the huge cuffs on her jeans look soo cool with the graphic tank and big glasses. And don't even get me started on her hair. I just love this.

Since everyone seems to be snowed in, I thought I'd bring the world of "out" to the blog world. And no, I did not choose Josh's photo solely for the ruggedness of his insanely good looks. He has some pretty amazing boots!

Dana has such an interesting blog. I love hearing about everyone she encounters! Have you ever been stopped on the street for a photo/stopped someone else to take their photo?

P.S. Be sure to check out C'est Demode! She's insanely amazing and sooo close to breaking 100 followers!

some memories

I llooovvee seeing everyone's ornaments around the blog world, and I really wanted to throw a couple of mine into the mix!

The mermaid was one I got last year, and of course the dress is a favorite because it's pink and feathery. My first Christmas ornament will always be special...for reasons I shouldn't have to tell you. And of course, the temporary "tree topper..."

This is actually an ornament of mine, but we have no tree topper this year. So this little gal is posing as one.

Ornaments remind me of jewelry, just for Christmas trees. Jamie Joseph is an amazing jewelry line here in Seattle, and their pieces are ddiivviinnneee.
Everything is so classic and unique at the same time. My only wish is that they weren't at designer prices...I neeeeeed for that purple stone ring!

I woke up this morning to a tweet from C'est Demode telling me I have 300 followers! Thanks so much to Madeleine for being number 300. You guys are theeee best; I have been smiling all morning! Giveaway coming soon!

never fails

I promised more snow boots today, didn't I?

This is Megan. I spotted her boots while shopping in Seattle. I love how casual she is dressing for the cold, but she is soo on-trend with each piece. Army green puffer jacket? Snow-boots-as-casual-wear? Llloooovveeee!

The color of her jacket reminded me of my love for military style. Have I been wearing cargo pants for three months now? Yes. Do I have an army green parka from H&M on my Christmas wish list? Yes. Am I dragging out this army trend for everything it's worth? Yes, yes, and yes. Utilitarian is my middle name right now. And probably will be for the next six months.

Example.
Blank Denim cargo jacket, Ash buckle boots, Topshop grommet wallet, Rag & Bone camo tee, Sam Edelman lace-up boots, Marc Jacobs red clutch, Gucci charm bracelet

And hellooooo to Caitlin, my sister! I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her in the next couple weeks (she has the cuuuuuuutest clothes) and she's so much fun to be around when she visits. Her wedding is on May 21, 2011 and I hope I get to share some of the preparations...like finding my maid-of-honor dress.

Unknown shirt, Urban cardigan, F21 jeans, Urban flats
Nordstrom coat, Urban purse

Isn't she the cutest? I love having her here over the holidays!

spring spirit

HauteLook is having an American Apparel sale today! I got only skirts + dresses, which is soo not me.

I wish they were having a mega Nastygal sale; could their clothes be any cuter? No? Okay, then I'll just take them aaallllll...
I love all the fun prints and bright colors! Everyone's in such a dark + grey + blue + black mood lately that I needed something to brighten up December. Speaking of December, I'm in the market for some snow boots, and so far, these are the winners!
They're by Sperry Top-Sider, and you can roll them up or down. Exposed shearling is super trendy right now, so obviously that's what I'd go for! I love the rugged-casual-wear look right now. Expect more of it tomorrow...

Lloovvviingg all the feedback from this weekend! Thank youuuuu... :)

wrapping up

I am obsseessseeddddd with my new coat.
Free People coat, unknown shorts, vintage gold belt, Target tights, American Apparel top

And my sister (home from college!) let me borrow her super cute Urban Outfitters flats!
I'm listening to Christmas music, and we finally got our tree today! I can't wait to see all of my ornaments again! I get a new one as a gift every year from my parents, and I'm already curious to see this year's. Also, I've already wrapped two presents. Way ahead of schedule.

Giveaway happening at 300 followers. You guys are going to looovveee this one. I hope everyone has an incredible weekend!

collective

Friday is a day for...
Slipper socks...
Finding the perfect gift...
and picking up sisters from the airport!
She got the beauty. I got the brains. Just kidding, she got the beauty and the brains. I got a sense of humor. She also got an engagement ring.
Friday is also a day for cleaning, doing laundry, and spending six hours browsing Anthro. Oh wait, nevermind, that's Saturday. I guess I'm a day early.
Anthropologie

4. Favorite clothing brands?
Free People, Marc Jacobs, Elizabeth and James, Antik Batik, Rick Owens, See by Chloé, Rag & Bone...Basically just go on Shopbop and read their list of designers, and you'll find my answer. I lloooovvee the mix of designer + thrifted one-of-a-kind items, it's like the new standard.

flare love

Three words: Modern. 70's. Chic.
Bird by Juicy Couture sweater, See by Chloé wedges, William Rast flares, Diane von Furstenberg sunnies, floppy hat from e4Hats

I fell so in love with this outfit as it is, I couldn't even put the jewelry I'd pair with it in the same collage. It just needed to have a moment.
Ettika wrap bracelet, Anna Beck silver ring, Femme Metale turquoise ring, Christie Martin double ring, all via CoutureCandy

Speaking of CoutureCandy, I bookmarked the site months ago, but I just rediscovered it and spent hours browsing their products and designers. They even have the Ella Moss I've been eyeing for the past couple weeks.

Seems crazy, but I actually put up a pair of flares in this post. I have been wearing nothing but skinny jeans for the past three years! Do you guys have a go-to denim style? Are you as (tentatively) happy about flares coming back as I am?

And I llllooovvvee that you guys are doing this tag along with me in the comments! Reading your answers is so much fun.

3. Favorite make-up brand?
If I were a billionaire, I would say NARS, but I'm mainly a drugstore makeup person. I like Rimmel and Physician's Formula. But after discovering L'Oreal's Voluminous Million Lashes, I'm seriously nevverrr going back to another.

my non-Christmas list

1. Blazer
J.Crew
2. Lace-up booties
Bernardo, Seychelles, Kelsi Dagger
3. Fingerless gloves
Topshop, Urban Outfitters, UGG Australia

I always make lists of staple pieces I want to have in my closet; like the kind of pieces that "every girl should have." A blazer is a classy piece that can make anything look elegant. Lace-up ankle boots are huge trend items right now; the ones by Seychelles are so good. And I'm going through a little phase with fingerless gloves lately. They have half the fabric, and twice the coolness.

My next paycheck is going to have to be wisely budgeted...what's on your list of closet staples?

2. What kind of blogs do you follow?
I love finding people just starting out like me. It's like we form a little friendly support group! It's so inspiring. But I'm a huge foodie too; I love following health food blogs!

outer wares

Loving the comments on yesterday's post! I see I'm not alone in my style indecision. So, flowy, floral dress or leather leggings and boots today...?

I have always wanted a long coat, but I've never got around to purchasing one. My nervous anticipation of what is supposed to be our worst winter since 1950 has me thinking this might be an emergency necessity. I'm preparing to bundle up. But like any fashion blogger/addict, when I read the words "bundle up," all I see is "LAYERS!"
Topshop long brown wool coat + rust tassel scarf, Juicy Couture leather bomber, AllSaints white fur bomber, Delia's navy toggle coat, Vince olive anorak, Diane von Furstenburg silk snood (or donut, whatever it looks like to you), Target mittens

I saw this white bomber coat while I was at AllSaints last week, and it was just as lovely in person. I didn't hesitate before trying it on (who hesitates before trying on a $1,320 coat?) and felt like I was wearing a cloud! I could have floated out of the store with it on, but then I decided that I probably shouldn't take out a second mortgage to look pretty.

Just kidding, I don't even have a first mortgage. I live in the basement of my parent's house. Because I spend all my money buying clothes. And jewelry.

Meera (an incredibly passionate 13-year-old girl with an inspiring positive outlook on life, and more maturity + taste than some people twice her age!) tagged me to do ten questions  awhile ago, so I decided to answer them individually up until Christmas. Sooo...some stuff about meeee! Thanks M :)

1. Why did you create your blog?
My mom. I wasn't working and spent most of my time shopping online and making moodboards, so my mom encouraged me to put it on the Internet and start blogging. All of the pieces were there, but my mom is essentially the instigator of Zipped. (Love you, Mom!)

from one to the next

Sparkle break! I love sequins, but there may be such a thing on this earth as "glitter overload" (just don't ask Kayla).  I'm happy with everything the layered hobo look has to offer for winter. Throw in an anorak and I'm good.

Elizabeth and James maxi skirt, Topshop sweater + hat, Mea Shadow ankle boots, Modcloth infinity scarf, Louis Vuitton duffle via Yoogi's Closet

I want to take a second and talk about "bipolar dress." It's a term for that personal style that lets you go out looking like a bum one day and a supermodel the next day. A rockstar one day and a garden fairy the next day. The kind of girl that dresses according to her mood. This is the kind of girl the moodboards of Zipped dresses. This is the kind of girl I am. I have such a variety of clothes that I can get dressed in whatever style I deem appropriate in the morning, from Bond girl to flower child to flannel-clad ranch hand.

Are any of you this way? Or do you have a one-word label that wholly encompasses your style?

P.S. Thanks sssoooo much for commenting and following! During my busy week in Seattle, I got crazy behind on commenting back, but I'm catching up.  Since you guys have been such rockstars, a rreealllyy cool giveaway is coming soon...!

feelin' it

I wish we could all fffeeeellll this post. Let's take a moment and just imaagginneee silky soft cashmere in our hands. All set?
Missoni arm warmers, Rick Owens cardigan, Bath & Body Works lotion, Theory skirt, Burberry scarf, J.Jill slippers

I am lloovviinggg Rick Owens lately. His silhouettes are so good. The shea cashmere lotion makes my hands ssooo soft! And who ever heard of a cashmere skirt? With pockets?

I have too much fun shopping online. I'm so glad I get to share all my finds with you guys.

No outfit post todaaaayyy (bummer), but this has been a crazy weekend of running around Seattle with no photographer. Next week!

jewel tones

This is not the jewel tone you're thinking of. No amethyst, no emerald, no sapphire
Michael Kors watch, Dogeared earrings, Dominic Jones cage ring, OPI nail polish, NARS eyeshadow, Daniella Kallmeyer knuckle ring, Elizabeth and James ankle booties

Rose gold is taking over my style life! It's such a pretty tone, I love how unique it feels. Michael Kors is like the king of the boyfriend watch. I love the big watch face and dangly, bracelet feel. I want to save up for one of his yellow gold watches, so I opted for a rose gold watch from the little girl's section at Nordstrom for fourteen dollars!

I started shopping yesterday for a vveerrryyy exciting event; I'm styling a photoshoooot! I'm working with my friend + aspiring model Hannah, and I have so much inspiration I don't know if I can fit it into three outfits. I hope I don't have to try and explain how excited I am, because I couldn't put it into words.

And today is Fridaaaaaaay!

adventures

Awhile ago, I mentioned that I went skydiving and wanted to share some of the beeyootiful photos the photographer Jeff took! They blow me away every time I look through them.
Later that same day, I met my puppy Lola for the first time!
In the spirit of telling everything you don't know about my life, I'll also throw in that I pierced my own ear, I have played the piano for thirteen years, I collect keychains, and you will never find me without my nails painted.

This post was totally pointless. I suppose I should include a moodboard just to keep it stylish...like one that's full of amazing designer brands I wish I could afford.

Helmut Lang sweater, Topshop jeans + three-finger ring, Givenchy bag, Golden Goose boots, Jamie Joseph ring

Have a good ddaaayyyyy!
