holiidddazzzeeeee

Heather is a vintage jewelry buyer and has some great finds in her Etsy shop...these pieces really stood out to me! There's something so whimsical about vintage accessories; they make you feel like you own something vastly significant.

Better than a five-dollar necklace from F21.

I definitely want one of those jewelry pieces for a holiday party. Topshop has such unique party dresses this season, I don't think I could pick just one to go with it...
Topshop dresses, L.A.M.B. snakeskin pumps, Calvin Klein black ankle-strap pumps

The chunky heels and snakeskin are soooo gooooood. Is anyone else obsessed with sparkles and sequins this winter?

all kinds of happy

It's Cyber Monday! I have my credit card in hand, and I'm about to go a little crazy. Everything is like a zillion percent off + free shipping! Last week was awesome too, because I got a package. From Piperlime. You guys already know how I feel about this.

Calvin Klein                                                                                  Rebecca Minkoff

I'm iinnnn lllooovveee with this Rebecca Minkoff key pouch. I can carry my license and card in this lovely little thing without carting my purse everywhere. And I can't count how many hours I've spent over the past couple weeks shopping for ballet flats. I love the comfy elastic band in these.

Flats are probably not the most appropriate shoes for winter, but I couldn't pass up a Calvin Klein sale. Boots are on everyone else's minds right now, and theeese are my best finds this week.

WHOLE-PAYCHECK BOOTS
Chloé, Alaïa, Michael Kors

HALF-PAYCHECK BOOTS
Franco Sarto, Very Volatile, Steve Madden

SEMI-PAYCHECK-WITH-LEFTOVER-TO-BUY-FOOD-AND-OTHER-NECESSITIES BOOTS
Minnetonka, Rocket Dog, Blowfish

I goodness-sakes-honestly can't believe I reached 200 followers over the weekend! You are such rockstars for reading and commenting, and I really can't thank you enough. I would yell 'thank you' really loud, but you guys wouldn't be able to hear me. So I'll just type it really loud.
TTTHHHAAANKKK YYYOOUUUUUUU!
P.S. Aimee won my giveaway and did a great post with her package! Check itttttt!

grey saturday

From top left: Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy fragrance, Topshop mittens, Betsey Johnson cosmetic bag, Gap slippers, Nylon Street Style book, Dogeared charm necklace, Rebecca Minkoff iPhone sleeve, Sonia Kashuk "Reach for the Stars" holiday trio, Krochet Kids Africa tee

I've been sooo excited to share these gift ideas with you guys; all of these things are at the top of my Christmas list this year. (Mom, please take note.)

1. I smelled this the other day and fell in love!
2. I'm always, always cold--mittens are definitely in order.
3. I love having cute cosmetic bags to travel with! You can't go wrong with pink leopard print, right?
4. Fur slippers, cocoa, roaring fire: done.
5. Street style is my go-to for inspiration in my own wardrobe, and no one does it better than Nylon.
6. It's no secret that I love Dogeared jewelry, and when I found this Explore necklace, I knew it had to be mine. I have dreams of being a world traveller, so this little compass charm fits me to a T.
7. The Rebecca Minkoff iPhone sleeve is sooo beyond gorgeous. I always worry about my phone when I throw it in my purse; who knows what's left in there after a couple months without cleaning it out...
8. I'm obsessseedddd with these colors by Sonia Kashuk! Perfect for the holidays!
9. Krochet Kids is one of my absolute favorite companies, I interviewed for an internship with them over the summer! They're the best guys around, and they have such exciting stock for fall/winter 2010. Check them out for surrreeee.

These cargo pants are my favorite right now. Does anyone else ever accidentally spell 'cargo' like 'Margot' with a t at the end?

up in the air

I hope everyone had a perfect Thanksgiving and is having a safe Black Friday! I'm spending today in my pajamas doing what I do best; shopping online.

Lots of traveling goes on this week and over the weekend...here are the travel necessities I would want with me if I was celebrating in someplace new.
Tinley Road blanket scarf, Topshop vanity bag, Marc Jacobs coin purse, Linea Pelle travel bags, TOMS shoes, Diane von Furstenberg suitcase

1. Cold airplanes call for big scarves that you can curl up in or use as a blanket! 2. I like this small coin purse to stick your ID and some cards in for the trek through the airport to have everything you need right where + when you need it. 3. Using little bags to organize my big suitcase makes a big difference when I'm trying to find things later! 4. TOMS are my favorite traveling shoe, but don't forget to wear a liner sock so you don't have to walk through security barefoot. That's never fun.

I llooovveee planning what I'm going to wear to the airport. This is comfortable, adorable perfection.

holiday break

Finale day! Part 3 of 3 in the self-titled Stacy London Style Challenge series. You can find parts one and two here and here, respectively, the first of which Stacy actually checked out!

Parent/Teacher Conference
Anthropologie dress, Gucci shoes, Ralph Lauren earrings, Bryna Nicole bag

A silk shirt dress is an easy piece that still holds the perfect amount of "chicness." It's great for all shapes too! It's hard to see, but the patent berry-colored heels complement the purple color in the print of the dress. Finally, the fringe purse feeds my personal love of boho style. Put-together, but not too fancy. It's only a conference, after all.

My personal style is more bohemian and eclectic than Stacy London's, and it obviously shows in these outfits. But in this case, I'm the client, therefore my tastes and preferences are the priority. One thing I find so intriguing about the personal styling industry is the amount of control stylists possess. Their main objective is to please the client, and that means listening to their needs. But clients seek out stylists that they admire--clients depend on the stylist to give their opinion. The relationship between a stylist and a client is such an interesting balance.

ALSO...
Tomorrow marks the one month anniversary of zipped! I'm so grateful of have all of you reading and chatting with me after just thirty short days. I won't be posting tomorrow because of the holiday, but I couldn't go without thanking you all for making zipped such a fun blog to write.

To those of you in America, have ffffuuunnnnn for Thanksgiving! To the rest of the world, have a nice Thursday. I love reading your comments and checking your blogs to see what you guys are up to!

The end. I love the holiday season. That is all.

flurries

I'm super amped to post part 2 of 3 of the Stacy London Style Challenge (titled as of six seconds ago); this is my favorite outfit of them all. You can find part 1 here if you missed it!

Winter Formal Business Event

Preen Line dress, Guess tights, Stuart Weitzman booties, Tibi faux fur jacket, Tom Binns necklace, Juicy Couture ring

I'm not gonna lie--kinda obsessed with this outfit. It just feels so glam. Because the scenarios they described are so vague (what kind of event? a party? a meeting?), it makes it hard to accessorize, but it's my blog and I decided that this event was a business party. Hence, the Tom Binns cluster necklace and fur coat. I just can't get over this outfit. I keep looking at it. It might turn into my desktop background.

In an act of gracious awesomeness, Stacy London checked out yesterday's post and tweeted me about it! Evidence:
I just about died! So thank you, thank you, thank you to one of my fashion icons and master stylist Stacy London.

FINALLY (last thing, I promise!), sweet Brooke apparently thinks I'm stylish and decided to give me an award for it. So thanks, B! You all know I'm a new blogger, so are blog awards just created by anyone and passed around? Onto what I'm supposed to be doing: telling you seven things about myself, because I just realized you don't know zilch about me.

1. I went skydiving for my eighteenth birthday. No, I was not scared. Yes, I would do it again.
2. I have two jobs. One is at a public library, one is at a clothing boutique. I love them both.
3. I have never dyed my hair.
4. My best friend lives 3,000 miles away from me. I get to see her about once a year.
5. In addition to style blogs I'm also addicted to food blogs! I'm a huge health nut--my favorite blogs are here, here, and here.
6. I have fifteen pairs of TOMS shoes.
7. Sometimes dirty, sometimes crass, mostly hilarious; Saturday Night Live is my favorite thing ever. I don't have TV, so I catch it on hulu every week!

My favorite blogs right now are C'est de ModeKenzie FaithfivetwocharmShort and SweetTwo for TeaCampus Fashion, and Oh So Sophi, so I'm passing the torch to them. Ookkaaayyyy, deep breath. That was fun. Let's do this again sometime.

It snowed like crazy yesterday.

zillions

So many things to cover! First things first...

Bbiiiigggg congratulations to the giveaway winner, which is...Aimee! Yeehaw. I can't wait to do another giveaway for you guys; this one was way fun for me.

Onto the first of a funnnn three-part post!

I read a great article a couple weeks ago about Stacy London and her newest endeavor, where she was holding a workshop with aspiring stylists. The twenty or so she was talking to were all assigned scenarios to create outfits for, and then explain why they worked. No one was allowed to say, "Because it looks good."

Here is my answer to the three scenarios presented (this post being the first scenario), and why they work.

And it's not just because they look good.

Kid's Afternoon Birthday Party
One Vintage blouse, 7 for all Mankind jeans, Lanvin flats, Lucky Brand earrings, Dogeared bangles

My idea of running around after four-year-olds does not include a dress. I chose these gorgeous, dark tailored jeans (Stacy, aren't you proud?) as a comfortable + flattering base. For the top, I wanted to avoid white (kid's birthday party? no brainer) and obvious "fun" prints, like stripes and polka dots. I feel like the composition of the different fabrics in this flowy top execute my classy/chic/fun vibe. Comfy flats and simple jewelry give some pretty and easy flair.

Because these outfits demand explanations, posts for the next couple days might include copius amounts of text. Bummer for you if you just like the pictures.

P.S. I GOT MY SNOW THIS MORNING! Also, thank you Elaine for emailing me with the link to the post I was looking for!

neutrals

Last day to enter the GIVEAWAY which is open to stateside and international readers! Winner will be announced in Monday's post.

Yesterday's post involved all black; today's is a little more on-trend for this season: NEUUTTRAALLSSS! Which I'm obviously excited about. These are some of my favorite picks right now.

Allsaints dress, Free People cords, DKNY cardigan, Noir Jewelry butterfly ring, Kendra Scott stone ring, Kate Spade studs, Forever 21 scarf, Steve Madden ankle boots, Pour La Victoire heels, Marc Jacobs wedges and wallet

And my casual Saturday wear, which includes my favorite shirt. I try to work it into as many outfits as possible. It usually works out 4/7 days.

Free People tanks and shirt, Levi's jeans, Urban Outfitters flats, vintage jewelry

If you saw my first outfit post, you'll find that I have not yet garnered the nerve to make eye contact with the camera...maybe that will come with experience...

Have an awesome + relaxing + exciting weekend! On Monday, I'm starting a three-part post that puts my styling skills to the test, and I'm super excited to share it with you guys.

Oh, and if any of you have snow, know that I am highly envious.

P.S. I read a blog post a couple days ago that was talking about how to keep your blog-life organized. I even commented on it and meant to put it to good use. I know this is crazy ironic, but now I can't figure out whose blog it was or where I saw it. If anyone read a post like this or knows about some magical comment-organizing software application, pretty pleeeease let me know!
P.S.S. The title of yesterday's post is from You've Got Mail, which is set in NYC.

I love New York in the fall

GIVEAWAY happening through Saturday!

I'm having a New York moment. I can't stop looking at blogs written by New Yorkers or photos of this entrancing city without wishing I was there. When I was younger, I was set on moving to New York when I graduated, and I'm still ddessspperraatteeee to visit someday.

This is the shopping list I'll have if I ever got the chance to go...

Matt Bernson ankle boot, Hive and Honey black buckle boot, Type Z grey boot, BB Dakota jacket, Steve Madden bag, Michael Kors beanie, AllSaints cardigan and dress and ring

It's untrue to say that New Yorkers wear all black all the time, but sometimes we're the same way in Seattle. We love our dark colors, and this is just the way I would want to look on the streets of Manhattan. These pieces are just effortlessly cool.

Points to anyone who knows what movie the title of this post comes from...!

zoe inspired

GIVEAWAY happening through Saturday!

I'm at Starbucks this morning with my friends Pumpkin Bread and Caramel Apple Spice. I already had a soy peppermint mocha this morning...what's your favorite holiday drink?

Rachel Zoe sent me an email about these shorts, and at first I was like, these are tooo ridiculous to be serious. But after some inspiration on how to style them, I decided to take my own chances with the styling. The result is an outfit I reeaaallllyyyy want to wear out to breakfast with friends on a perfect fall morning...unlike today! Seattle has decided to live up to its rainy name this morning.
Paul and Joe shorts, Sandro top, Rebecca Minkoff bag, Long Tall Sally socks, Joie boots, Kate Spade earrings, Judith Jack black ring, Noir double-finger ring

Thanks for the feedback, aaammmaazzziiinng 100 FOLLOWERS! My brain is having trouble absorbing that number; you guys make me smile all day long. The giveaway has now become a thank-you for 50, 75, and 100 followers, haha! Love reading your comments, don't forget to leave your blog links so I can check them out!

loot for you

This giveaway is sort of a thank-you for 50 and 75 followers because everything happened so fast! Giving you guys free stuff sort of speaks for itself, but again, big thank you for following and commenting.

I went vintage shopping for you guys yesterday and found this incredible necklace to go with an adorable Fossil coin purse and, thanks to Sophi's idea, a handmade beanie! There will also be an extra surprise in the coin purse for the winner. Unconventionally, it is not a bunch of coins...but the next best thing.

To enter, you must 1) be following me via Google Friend Connect, and 2) leave a comment telling me what color hat you would choose if you won! To get an additional entry, you may follow me on Bloglovin', but be sure to let me know in your comment.

The contest ends Saturday, November 20 at 11:59 p.m. The giveaway is open to U.S. residents only.
THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW OPEN TO EVERYONE!

I was browsing through what's new on Shopbop and wanted to share my newest 'hearts' with you guys...apparently I'm into black and beige?

pier paolo piccioli

Wwwwowwwww. Good morning unbelievable followers! Thank you so much for the comments and feedback on my last post; I've said it before and I'll say it again, you guys are rockstars!

I thought I'd have a giveaway when I reached 50 followers in the next couple weeks, but since it happened literally overnight, it will be coming a lot sooner. Look for it in tomorrow's post!

I went vintage shopping this weekend, and I'm so excited about what I found...

I love Chanel, but not the scent, so I can't wait to decorate my bathroom with this old perfume bottle! I've already worn this necklace since I got it, and I lllooovveee that these earrings are identical, instead of mirrored. The little green jewel is on the same side on both! I wish you guys could see the gorgeous dark green of the dangly stone...

In other news, about a month ago, Valentino's Spring 2011 show happened in Paris, and the results are me obsessing over almost every piece.

Also, in reviewing the collection, I decided I want Tim Blank's job. Sitting front row at shows and reviewing + writing about them sounds good to me. He's kind of a genius, really. When I read the recaps of shows on style.com, I can always tell if he's the one writing. His are just kind of beyond.

My other favorite show from Paris Fashion Week is Balmain. Sooooo edgy.

One is so soft and romantic, and the other is leather and rock and roll. Both at such different levels of perfection...

At another level of perfection are my followers--you guys are definitely all that! Thanks so much for commenting! Love hearing what you have to say and checking out your blogs.

weekend!

A few people have been asking for an outfit post, so here is what I'm wearing today.

Urban Outfitters tee, Free People dress and tights and necklace, Steve Madden boots, vintage jewelry

Thanks to my awesome and stylish sister Elyse for taking this shot.

Second, I got a package in the mail yesterday that I'm really excited about. I got highly-rated eyeshadow primer by Urban Decay and  an eyeshadow palette by Too Faced. All of the colors in it are so gorgeous! They're neutral enough for every day, but there's still enough shimmer and color to be noticed.

Finally, if you love shoes as much as I do, you must check out Chiara's shoe collection. You may lose your breath.

I hope you all have a great weekend; I'll be spending the next couple of days resisting listening to Christmas music and getting hats crocheted for a fundraiser. Lots and lots of tea will be involved as well.
